This Week in Kindergarten!

Hello Families!

This week in Kindergarten we talked about Johnny Appleseed.  Many of the students shared their apple picking experiences.

During Reading Workshop, we continued to make predictions and think about what will happen next in the story.  We also learned more about our classroom library!  The class sorted bins of books and practiced taking books in and out of the library.  Today, they decorated their very own book bags.  Eventually, they will keep their Just Right books and Sight Word rings in their book bags.

During Writing Workshop, we talked about how recalling important people, places and events help us to collect ideas for stories.  Students wrote several stories about the special people, places and events in their lives.

In math, we are finished our unit on sorting and started identifying and creating patterns.  What fun!

We are continuing to work on learning our Word Study routine. This week, we practiced rotating from center to center independently.  The students also practiced using their notebooks to cut and paste a sort.

Handwriting - Our letter this week was "Ll."
